Start with the CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations.
It is a very commonly asked question – when can a security officer carry/use batons and handcuffs? The answer – when they have been trained, have authority from their employer and when they have a genuine reason (eg. patrols, working alone, night shifts, etc). They are NOT to be carried for crowd control, private investigations, debt collections or when off duty.
This skill set describes the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively carry and use batons and handcuffs. This skill set may provide credit towards CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations and CPP31418 Certificate III in Close Protection Operations.

Course Outcomes
A Statement of Attainment will be awarded upon successful completion of this course. This will be advantageous for job roles which require the carry and use of Batons and Handcuffs.

Assessment Re-Submission Fees
Should you be deemed not competent after 2 attempts at a unit of competency, an assessment re-submission fee of $50 will apply per assessment.
Re-Enrolment
Should you wish to cancel your course or your enrolment is cancelled by us due to no progress and you then wish to re-enrol, a re-enrolment fee of 25% of the standard course fee will apply if requested within 3 months of initial cancellation. If re-enrolment is requested within 4 – 12 months of initial cancellation, 50% of the standard course fee will apply.
- Hold an existing Security Licence in the state they are undertaking training.
- Must be 18 years or age or older and have had no criminal convictions in previous 10 years to be eligible for a Security Licence. Note; driving offences (e.g. speeding, drink driving, etc.) are not normally disqualifying offences.
- Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold an appropriate Visa to work in the Security Industry.
Participants may choose to undertake an LLN assessment with one of our qualified assessors prior to committing to their enrolment in this qualification.
This course is not open to international students (student visa 500).
This qualification is available through face to face learning only. This is a one day in-class experience with a qualified and experienced trainer. Students will complete theory components online in class.
The course is delivered through practical training, scenarios, role plays and group discussions.

After completing your Certificate II in Security Operations, you can apply for a security licence through your state or territory’s licensing authority. The process generally includes:
