Course Overview
Ready to start work in construction in Queensland? You’ll need a White Card before you can access any site.
The White Card course (CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry) is the mandatory training required for anyone working on a construction site in Queensland. It provides essential knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS), hazard awareness, and legal obligations under Queensland’s WHS legislation.
At Asset College, White Card training is delivered face-to-face only in Queensland to ensure high-quality instruction, assessment integrity, and practical learning.
Upon successful completion of the course, Asset College will issue your White Card directly. Your card can be posted to you or collected from our North Lakes campus. Asset College then reports issued cards to WorkSafe QLD in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Course Outcomes
By completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify WHS legal responsibilities in construction environments
- Recognise common construction hazards and implement risk control measures
- Understand health and safety signage, communication, and incident response procedures
- Follow safe work practices and report hazards appropriately
- Receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001
- Be issued a White Card by Asset College, valid across all Australian states and territories
Asset College complies with all WorkSafe QLD reporting obligations regarding White Card issuance.
Entry Requirements
To enrol in the White Card course in Queensland, you must:
- Be at least 14 years of age
- Provide valid photo ID on the day of training (e.g. driver licence, passport, 18+ card)
- Have basic English language and literacy skills
- Be physically present for the duration of the course — online delivery is not available in Queensland through Asset College
- Arrive on time, as late arrivals may be refused entry to meet WorkSafe QLD training conditions

Units of Competency
The White Card course includes the delivery and assessment of:
CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
This nationally recognised unit is required for anyone who wants to enter or work on a construction site in Queensland or elsewhere in Australia. It equips you with the essential knowledge to identify hazards, follow safe work procedures, and understand WHS responsibilities.
On successful completion of the course, you will receive:
- A Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001
- A White Card issued by Asset College, compliant with WorkSafe QLD requirements
Asset College reports all cards issued to WorkSafe QLD as required under legislation.

Once you’ve obtained your White Card, you’re eligible to work on construction sites anywhere in Australia. To grow your skills and career opportunities, Asset College offers a range of related qualifications, including:
- Certificate III in Work Health and Safety – for those entering WHS roles in construction or infrastructure
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety – for safety officers, site supervisors, or team leaders
- Certificate II in Security Operations – for security roles in construction site protection or event infrastructure
- Certificate III in Security Operations – for mobile patrols, response units, and control room operations
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) – essential for safety-conscious job roles
These pathways can lead to greater employability and career progression in WHS, construction, and protective services sectors.

The White Card course fee for Queensland is:

This fee includes:
- Full-day, face-to-face training and assessment with a qualified instructor

- Issuance of your White Card by Asset College
